14 Talented Egyptians to Study Abroad on Citadel Capital Scholarship Foundation Awards

The Citadel Capital Scholarship Foundation, which provides financial assistance for talented young Egyptian students who wish to study at elite universities worldwide, has awarded more than 80 scholarships to date

The Citadel Capital Scholarship Foundation (CCSF) today hosted a reception to honor 14 recipients in its fifth annual round of scholarships. The CCSF grants full academic scholarships to talented young Egyptian men and women to pursue graduate degrees at world-class international institutions.

Twelve of this year’s recipients are undertaking master’s-level studies, while two are studying at the doctoral level.

“We are delighted to be able to assist another crop of Egypt’s brightest minds as they pursue their dreams,” said Hussein El-Khazindar, Secretary General of the Board of Trustees of the Citadel Capital Scholarship Foundation. “The Citadel Capital Scholarship is, we hope, a key source of education and opportunity for Egypt’s emerging leaders, having already assisted more than 70 of Egypt’s most talented and promising students to achieve their potential over the past four years and we are delighted to offer this opportunity to another 14 students in 2011.”

Scholarship recipients study across all disciplines with only the condition that they return to Egypt to work after their graduation. CCSF recipients have studied a variety of disciplines, including filmmaking, anthropology, art, human rights and law, business, engineering, architecture, development, medicine and more.

“Today, as our country and our region compete in an increasingly crowded and sophisticated global marketplace, education is more critical than ever as avenue to achievement — personally, professionally and nationally,” said Ambassador El-Khazindar. “The Foundation is committed to supporting Egypt’s talented students in their pursuit of the highest quality preparation for professional, artistic and academic excellence. Our ultimate aim is to provide Egypt with high caliber, internationally-competitive professionals across all fields.”

The CCSF has awarded scholarships to students from across Egypt, including Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Menoufia, Ismailia, Assuit, Tanta and Aswan.

“It is an honor that even in these momentous times, the Citadel Capital Scholarship Foundation is able to offer the opportunity for Egyptian students to have access to the world’s elite universities,” said Dr. Ahmed Heikal, Citadel Capital’s Chairman and Founder. “We are eager to see the contributions that these talented and promising young Egyptians will make to their diverse fields.”

“We believe that world-class talent is nurtured not just at top global universities, but specifically at the masters and doctoral levels, and the Citadel Capital Scholarship Foundation is an outgrowth of this belief” said Hisham El-Khazindar, Citadel Capital’s Managing Director and Co-Founder. “With this Foundation, and by offering these students this opportunity, we are investing not only in them, but in Egypt and the future.”

Recipients of Citadel Capital Scholarships have attended institutions including Harvard, Stanford and Columbia universities in the United States, Oxford, Cambridge and University College London in the United Kingdom, Lund University in Sweden, University of Heidelberg in Germany, University of Helsinki in Finland and ESADE Business School in Spain, in addition to other world-class institutions.
